Searcy may have a new tenant for the vacated Whirlpool building. The Schultze and Burch Biscuit Company are looking at Searcy as a possible relocation site for their manufacturing facility.
The Searcy City Council would have to approve a bond issue to help seal the deal. According to a Searcy newspaper, Schultze and Burch make 1/3 of all pop up toaster pastries in the US as well as a number of other snacks and cereals.
Searcy Chamber president Buck Layne says the deal is far from done, but the company is looking seriously at Searcy.
