Wisley Correa Named Academic All-District

Harding University junior designated hitter Wisley Correa earned Second-Team ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District VI honors Thursday. He is Harding's first Academic All-District honoree since Jake Kirby in 2003. Correa, a native of Sebring, Fla., was second on the team in hitting at .329 and added a home run and 33 RBI, also second-highest among Bison players. In his two-year career at Harding, Correa has a .330 average, 14th-best in school history. He is also the toughest hitter in program history to strike out. Correa, a right-handed hitter, has struck out only 12 times in 288 at-bats. Academically, Correa is a senior biology major with a 3.35 grade point average. The ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District teams are voted on by the district's sports information directors. District VI includes NCAA II, NCAA III, and NAIA schools in Arkansas, Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Mississippi.
