Harding University runners Gosia Drazkowska and Katy Grant both earned ESPN the
Magazine Track and Field/Cross Country Academic All-District VI on Thursday. It
was Drazkowska's second straight Academic All-District honor.
A native of
Wloclawek, Poland, Drazkowska qualified nationally for the outdoor 800 meters
all four years of her career. She twice earned All-America honors in the event
and added another in the indoor distance medley relay in 2005.
Drazkowska
is a senior, international business major and Spanish minor with a 3.88
grade-point average.
Grant, who hails from Mustang, Okla., recently
competed at outdoor nationals in the 3000-meter steeplechase, placing 17th. It
was her first trip to nationals in her two-year career. Grant finished sixth in
the GSC cross-country championships and 11th in the South Region meet, earning
All-GSC and All-Region honors.
Grant, already a senior academically, has
two seasons of eligibility remaining. She has perfect 4.00 grade-point average
as a social work major and Spanish minor.
The ESPN the Magazine Academic
All-District teams are voted on by the district's sports information directors.
District VI includes NCAA II, NCAA III, and NAIA schools in Arkansas, Texas, New
Mexico, Oklahoma and Mississippi.
Drazkowska and Grant will now move on
to the Academic All-America ballot. The Academic All-America Team will be
released Wednesday, June 25.
