Searcy City Clerk/Treasurer, Tammy Gowen, was elected to office in January, 2003. Prior to serving as Clerk/Treasurer she served as White County Tax Collector for 12 years. Tammy holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a major in Computer Information from UALR and is currently working towards her MBA at Harding University.

Tammy is a member of the International Institute of Municipal Clerks and received her Certified Municipal Clerk status in September of 2005 and is also a member of the Arkansas City Clerks, Recorders, Treasurers Association. She works with the Searcy Chamber of Commerce on community development by serving on the Workforce Development / Education Committee and Searcy Leadership Institute Committee.

Giving to the community and actively helping others is important to Mrs. Gowen. She serves her community by being a member of the Searcy Lions Club, and is the treasurer of Searcy KLife. Tammy is a member of the Garner Baptist Church where she serves as an assistant treasurer.

A native of Searcy, Tammy is married to Mike Gowen together they have four children and one grandchild. Their two sons Kyle and Ethan Mashburn attend the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. Their daughter, Holly, resides in Tulsa, Oklahoma and daughter Kristen and husband, Merle Flynn, live in Heber Springs with their son, Keegan.
