HU Men's Soccer Aims for MIAA Tournament in Olathe, Kansas KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Harding men's soccer team now has a destination for its postseason hopes. The Soccer Bisons, who are associate members of the Mid-American Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA), which recently announced that the MIAA Men's Soccer Tournament will be held in Olathe, Kan., on Nov. 1-3. The top four teams in the eight-team conference will advance to the conference tournament, which will be held at the Olathe District Activities Center. It is a lighted, natural grass facility located just over 20 miles away from Kansas City. The eight teams in the MIAA Men's Soccer Conference are Fort Hays State, Lindenwood, Northeastern State, Southwest Baptist, and Truman State, all of the MIAA. Also included are Harding and Southern Nazarene of the Great American Conference and Upper Iowa of the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. Neither of those conferences sponsor men's soccer as a conference sport. The tournament will begin Friday, Nov. 1 at 4 p.m. with a meeting of the No. 2 seed vs. the No. 3 seed. At 7 p.m., the No. 1 seed will meet the No. 4 seed. The championship game is Sunday, Nov. 3 at 11 a.m. Harding will open the 2012 season with a home exhibition game against Freed-Hardeman on Aug. 25 at 7:30 p.m. The Bisons' first MIAA game will be Sept. 15 against Northeastern State in Tahlequah, Okla. |
