Harding Football Hires Luke Tribble as Scott Symons Departs
Harding University head football coach Ronnie Huckeba announced two changes to his coaching staff Tuesday. Former co-defensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator Scott Symons has resigned to take a position on the football staff at a Football Bowl Subdivision school, and Harding has hired former Bison Luke Tribble.
Tribble graduated from Harding in May with a B.A. in kinesiology. In his four-year career as a Bison defensive back, Tribble played in 41 games with 172 tackles, 5.0 tackles for loss, 11 pass breakups, and three interceptions. He was an ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District honoree in 2010.
“We are extremely fortunate to hire a young coach with Luke's pedigree,” Huckeba said. “He has grown up around football, in particular Bison football, and we are certain that he will have a tremendous impact on our program as a coach. He is very intelligent and has a great mind for the game of football. Most importantly, his life and character reflect the values of Harding University and our football program."
Symons worked four seasons at Harding from 2008-2011. He spent two years as a graduate assistant before becoming the co-defensive coordinator and recruiting coordinator in 2010. Last season, Harding's defense led the Great American Conference in total defense and sacks and ranked second in rushing defense and turnovers forced.
“We wish Scott well as he pursues this opportunity,” Huckeba said. “He worked very hard in the varying roles that he had while he was on our staff, and his positive impact on our program will be felt for a long time.”
Tribble's position assignment and Symons' replacement as recruiting coordinator have yet to be determined.
