Junior Auxiliary of Searcy Awards Two College Scholarships Junior Auxiliary of Searcy recently selected Halle Medley and Justin Elander of Searcy High School as $1500 college scholarship recipients. The selection criterion for Junior Auxiliary of Searcy’s Mary Beth Chapman/Marilyn Club Scholarship and Dottie Corder Scholarship is based on academic achievement, involvement in school activities, community service activities and need. Special consideration was made to applicants who have been involved in activities that promote children’s welfare in White County. “We had numerous strong applicants, but this young lady and gentleman’s applications stood out to us for many reasons,” said Junior Auxiliary of Searcy President, TJ Mason. Halle’s academic success paired with her achievements such as induction in to the National Honors Society, Beta Club, Spanish Honorary, becoming a selected member of the National Society of High School Scholars and a state finalist for Letters about Literature not to mention her countless community service hours. She was the perfect fit to represent the Junior Auxiliary scholarship. Halle plans to attend Arkansas State University in Jonesboro, in the fall. Samuel Elander was a natural choice as the male scholarship recipient. He has achieved high marks academically as well becoming a selected member of the National Honors Society, Spanish Honorary and the National Beta Club. Samuel has participated in numerous community service projects which fit nicely with the mission of Junior Auxiliary. He has been accepted to both Pepperdine and Harding University.
