The City of Searcy and the Searcy Police Department are partnering to host a press conference Thursday at 10 a.m. for the launch of Smart911, a safety software program that allows users to create detailed profiles to aid first responders in the event of an emergency. Searcy is the only city in Arkansas to offer this service to its residents.

According to Smart911’s website, users can create a “Safety Profile,” which contains medical and personal information, including photos, physical descriptions of family members, emergency contacts and information about pets, medications, impairments or disabilities. The Safety Profile only displays this information to 9-1-1 dispatchers when the user calls from a registered phone.

The press conference will take place at the Searcy Police Department Training Room, located at 101 North Gum Street.
