WCMC Announces Associate of the Quarter

White County Medical Center associates have selected Quality Assurance Analyst Michele Hopkins as the Associate of the Quarter for the first quarter of 2012. WCMC administrative representatives recently surprised Hopkins with the announcement, along with flowers and gifts.

Hopkins has served the hospital in several capacities for more than 22 years; she started as a transporter in the Radiology Department in 1990. In her current position as Quality Assurance Analyst, Hopkins gathers and analyzes data about the hospital to ensure WCMC meets and/or exceeds Medicare and Medicaid guidelines, patient quality of care and physician quality of care delivered.

“Each day is different; my job here is never dull, which I enjoy,” she said. “Another aspect of my job I enjoy is the relationships and friendships I have been able to develop with so many of my co-works both within and outside my department of the hospital. The people I have day-to-day contact with make my job easier. Despite any stressful situations, we all pitch in to get the job done. This nomination is an honor for me; I feel that I am appreciated by my co-workers on a daily basis, and I greatly appreciate them, too.”

Attributes of the Associate of the Quarter include high values, a positive attitude and sense of professionalism. Hopkins reflects the core values of the hospital: integrity, teamwork, compassion, excellence, stewardship, innovation and servanthood.

The following comments were made by fellow associates who nominated her: “Michele is a great leader; she leads by example,” “She always has a good attitude and is willing to help at all times,” “Michele is reliable, consistent, trustworthy, conscientious and competent; we depend on her to keep our department moving,” and “She is very knowledgeable about her job and is constantly reading, learning and sharing ways we can continue to improve as a department.”
