by Michelle Makool - Have you driven passed Searcy Lion’s football field lately and noticed something a little different? The stadium is currently undergoing a 60 – 90 day construction process to lay artificial turf.

The school saw a need for the turf after the soccer team started using the field for home games due to construction on the city soccer fields. After having the football team use the field in the fall and soccer in the spring, the field was unable to recover. With turf, the field will be ready year round for all sports.

The football field will become a multi-purpose stadium that will be used for state band contests, soccer games, physical education activities and of course, football games. This feature will also allow the soccer team to have a regulation large field and play all home games at Lion Stadium.
