WCMC Announces Associate of the Quarter White County Medical Center associates have named Jennifer Varner, RN BSN, as Associate of the Quarter for the third quarter of 2010. As the Nurse Educator for WCMC, Varner instructs the entire nursing staff on all policies and procedures of the hospital through education done for newly hired nurses at orientation to veteran nurses through continuing education. Varner has worked for White County Medical Center since 2005. During her first year with the hospital, she worked in the Critical Care Unit, since then, she has worked Education. Prior to joining WCMC, she worked at Jackson General Hospital in Jackson, Tenn. “I really like the fact that our hospital is a smaller hospital, because you get to know more people and take care of people you see out in the community every day,” Jennifer said. “That makes working here so meaningful.” “There are aspects of each role I have as a Nurse Educator that I love,” she said. “I like Nursing Orientation, because I get to meet all the new nurses. Sometimes, the nurses have worked at other places and share good practices; it is a constant learning experience. Also, I like educating nurses on new equipment, which allows me to learn to use the machines, too.” The following comments were made by Jennifer’s co-workers about what a great example she sets for fellow associates: “She represents My Hospital with a genuine smile and professional appearance.” “Jennifer will do her job above and beyond, even if it means being here at 6 a.m. or midnight. If you give her a job, she gets it done.” “Whenever Jennifer instructs nursing students or associates, she shows her positive attitude and dedication to WCMC and to nursing.” Varner embodies the hospital’s core values of integrity, teamwork, compassion, excellence, stewardship, innovation and servanthood. She also has a positive attitude and great sense of professionalism. With more than 1450 associates, White County Medical Center is the second-largest employer in Searcy. The facility has a combined total of 438 licensed beds and a medical staff of 150 physicians that specialize in various areas of healthcare. Associates are committed to the continuous improvement of quality patient care through services and programs for people in all stages of life. WCMC serves Cleburne, Independence, Jackson, Prairie, White and Woodruff counties.
