Harding Pharmacy Students Win Competition At State Meeting
Jul 08, 2010

Three Harding University students represented the College of Pharmacy at the Nonprescription Medication Academy’s annual Over the Counter Competition, taking home the victory for the second consecutive year.

The contest was held in conjunction with the Arkansas Pharmacists Association meeting June 12 in Fort Smith. Aakash Patel of Cartersville, Ga., Ankita Desai of Roswell, Ga., and B.K. Mthongana of Searcy, made up the winning team, defeating contestants from University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in the final round of the Jeopardy-style competition.

Each team was assigned two pharmacists on site — Harding’s team was joined by Arkansas pharmacists C.A. Kuykendall and Danny Porter. Kuykendall competed with Harding’s winning team at last year’s competition.

The first-place trophy will remain on display in the student affairs and admissions office at Harding until next year’s competition. Harding had a record enrollment this year of more than 6,600 students from all 50 states and 49 foreign countries. It is the largest private university in Arkansas and attracts more National Merit Scholars than any other private university in the state. Harding also maintains campuses in Australia, Chilé, England, France, Greece, Italy and Zambia.
