The city of Searcy will join with Harding University once again to celebrate our nation’s birthday with fireworks and festivities on Saturday, July 4.

The day will kick off with a bicycle parade for children under 12 on the courthouse square in downtown Searcy. Registration is at 9 a.m., and the parade begins at 9:30.

Evening activities will begin at 7 p.m. on Harding’s campus. Aramark will sell concessions, and a carnival for children ages 3-10 will be held on the Ganus Athletic Center lawn. New to the carnival this year will be pony rides for $3 and a free petting zoo. All children will receive five complimentary carnival tickets. Additional tickets can be purchased for 25 cents each.

Yarnell's will be providing free ice cream.

Fireworks by Air Magic of Batesville, Ark., will begin at 9 p.m., and KVHU will provide patriotic musical accompaniment. The best view of the show will be from behind First Security Stadium’s home stands.

During the fireworks, Intramural Drive from the baseball field to the soccer fields will be closed.
