DID YOU KNOW?

• More than 20% of Arkansas adults read at or below a 5th grade level, which is far below that needed to earn a living wage. 
• Many of these low level readers have dropped out of school before graduation. 
• Workers who lack a high school diploma only earn an average monthly income of $425.  
• 70% of people with the lowest literacy skill either have no job at all or only a part time job.   
• Over half of the inmates in prison have lower literacy skills than the general populace.
• Prison inmates who go through a literacy program while in jail are significantly less likely to return to prison.
• Children of adults who participate in literacy programs improve their own grades and test scores, improve their reading skills, and are far less likely to drop out of school.

We offer free tutoring to adults who are interested in improving their reading and/or English skills.

We also offer free training to people who might be interested in helping to change lives by becoming a volunteer tutor.
