welcome to the Searcy Lions Club!
Welcome to the Searcy Lions Club. Since 1947, we have served the people in White County by providing vision care and eye glasses to those who are in need! We collaborate with local eye doctors who generously volunteer a portion of their time to provide eye examinations. And as a non-profit community organization, we meet regularly to plan fundraisers and community outreach, all with the goal of furthering our mission.
A Moment from the past... and present.
The Searcy Lions Club was chartered with 28 members on March 25, 1947.
Lions are recognized worldwide for their service to the blind and visually impaired. With more than 1.3 million members, throughout 45,000 clubs, in 205 countries, Lions have expanded their focus to help meet the ever-increasing needs of our global community.
Locally, the Searcy Lions helps individuals providing approximately $15,000 worth of eye exams and eye glasses each year. The Searcy Lions also support the Sunshine school, Newhope industries, Boys Baseball, Girls Softball, Youth Soccer, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, Girls and Boys State.
The Searcy Lions club raises funds through various efforts, such as the annual TV/Radio Auction, White Cane Days, the annual Omelet supper, and the sale of mints available in several business around Searcy.

The Searcy Lions support Lions World Services for the Blind in Little Rock, AR. This comprehensive rehabilitation center provides personal adjustment training, psychological testing and counseling, prevocational evaluation and vocational training to individuals who are blind or visually impaired from all 50 states and 56 foreign countries.
The Searcy Lions also support the Memphis, TN based Mid-South Lions Sight And Hearing Service provides all of its services at no charge to the patient. Participating Lions Clubs provide transportation and eyeglasses. All other charges are provided by Mid-South Lions.
Lions Clubs collect used prescription eyeglasses and sunglasses as part of a unique recycling program throughout the United States and Canada. The glasses are then distributed to those in need in developing countries where eye care is often unaffordable and inaccessible.

service to others
Worldwide, Lions clubs are recognized for their service to people who are blind and visually impaired. This service began when Helen Keller challenged Lions to become “knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness” during the 1925 Lions Clubs International Convention.
Today, Lions extend their commitment to sight conservation through countless local efforts, as well as through their international program, which works to eradicate blindness worldwide. Lions also collect and recycle eyeglasses for distribution in developing countries.
Your Searcy Lions Club helps to make our community stronger through a variety of projects and activities that focus on sight conservation:

LIONS INTERNATIONAL PURPOSE
*To Create and foster a spirit of understanding among the peoples of the world.
*To Promote the principles of good government and good citizenship.
*To Take an active interest in the civic, cultural, social and moral welfare of the community.
*To Unite the clubs in the bonds of friendship, good fellowship and mutual understanding.
*To Provide a forum for the open discussion of all matters of public interest; provided, however, that partisan politics and sectarian religion shall not be debated by club members.
*To Encourage service-minded people to serve their community without personal financial reward, and to encourage efficiency and promote high ethical standards in commerce, industry, professions, public works and private endeavors.
LIONS CODE OF ETHICS
*To Show my faith in the worthiness of my vocation by industrious application to the end that I may merit a reputation for quality of service.
*To Seek success and to demand all fair remuneration or profit as my just due, but to accept no profit or success at the price of my own self-respect lost because of unfair advantage taken or because of questionable acts on my part.
*To Remember that in building up my business it is not necessary to tear down another's; to be loyal to my clients or customers and true to myself. Whenever a doubt arises as to the right or ethics of my position or action towards others, to resolve such doubt against myself.
*To Hold friendship as an end and not a means. To hold that true friendship exists not on account of the service performed by one another, but that true friendship demands nothing but accepts service in the spirit in which it is given. Always to bear in mind my obligations as a citizen to my nation, my state, and my community, as to give them my unswerving loyalty in word, act, and deed.
*To give them freely of my time, labor and means.
*To Aid others by giving my sympathy to those in distress, my aid to the weak, and my substance to the needy.
*To Be Careful with my criticism and liberal with my praise; to build up and not destroy.
